Marathon Runner & Distance Runner
Galen Rupp is one of the greatest American male distance runners in history, a four-time Olympian who has medaled at the Games in both the 10,000 meters (silver, London 2012) and the marathon (bronze, Rio 2016). Trained by Alberto Salazar and later by Mike Smith, Rupp's career spans the full spectrum of distance running excellence.
Rupp's consistency at the Olympic level is remarkable — he has represented the United States at four consecutive Olympic Games and remained competitive at the highest level for over 15 years. His 2017 Chicago Marathon victory in 2:09:20 established him as one of America's all-time great marathoners, and his ability to adapt from the track to the road has set a template for the next generation of American distance runners.
