Slánú by Ajeet: A Listening Guide

Slánú arrived on October 9, 2026, as Ajeet's eleven-track album and the latest entry in a catalog that began with Sacred Waters in 2013. To hear it well, it helps to know how far she has traveled to reach it. Her first two albums were built around mantra: Sacred Waters holds music for Kundalini Yoga meditations, and At The Temple Door weaves songs and mantras with harmonies from Snatam Kaur. From there came Darshan, recorded in Bali, then Haseya, Shuniya, Indigo Sea, the LUNAR EP and the live album Voices Like Rain. In 2020 she moved back to Ireland and began working from her home studio. Slánú is the work of an artist who has returned to the folk traditions of her Irish background and carries everything she gathered along the way.

The Sonic Character

Ajeet's music moves from traditional Irish folk toward mystical, meditative soundscapes, and Slánú lives in the space between the two. Her live album Voices Like Rain features layered harmonies, acoustic and electric guitars, hand percussion and Celtic harp, and her band draws musicians from Spain, Ireland and the United States. That mix of places shows in the track list itself, where English titles sit beside the Spanish of Para la Tierra, Viento and Para Sanar. The album's title is an Irish word, and its songs seem to circle one idea: tending, softening, coming back to oneself.

The titles suggest a gentle mood, and a listener can trust that instinct. Soften, Heartbeat, only tenderness between us and only you know where peace is are names that ask for patience rather than urgency. Many of Ajeet's songs carry layers of folklore, dream images and myth, and she has always loved the stories cultures pass down. Expect that storytelling sensibility to run beneath the album's quieter surfaces.

Tracks Worth Naming

Dreaming. This is the track to seek out for its voices. Aisling Urwin, the harpist and vocalist who is Ajeet's longtime bandmate, joins her here along with Rachel Sermanni. Urwin and Ajeet also created the project Woven Kin, so the pairing carries a long familiarity. Dreaming also echoes the title of Ajeet's Dreaming Retreat in County Cork, and dream imagery runs through her songwriting. Listen for how the voices weave together rather than compete.

Healing Song. Its title is plain, and the plainness is the point. It sits at the front of the album's list of songs and states the record's intention directly. It is a good place to learn the album's pacing before the more specific colors arrive.

Viento. One of the Spanish-titled songs, a short prayer asking the wind to enter the heart and cleanse it. The word means wind, and it pairs naturally with From The Water and Para la Tierra (for the earth) to give the album an elemental thread. Listening to these three in sequence is a rewarding way to hear the record's landscape.

only you know where peace is. The lowercase title reads like a line of intimate speech. Songs named this way tend to be the ones that reward the closest attention, so give it your full focus.

Place in Its Tradition

Slánú belongs to the devotional and world music lineage in which Ajeet has worked from the start, but it is not a mantra album in the way her first two records were. Where those albums were rooted in Kundalini Yoga practice, this one draws more openly on Irish folk, story and song, joined by Spanish-language pieces. It sits comfortably beside kirtan-adjacent and meditative music without being bound to a single form. Think of it as devotional in spirit and folk in voice: a record about care, delivered through melody.

Who It Lands Hardest For

This album will find its deepest audience among listeners who are in a season of repair: recovering from a hard stretch, grieving, burnt out, or simply needing to slow down. Anyone who has followed Ajeet from Sacred Waters will hear a mature artist at home in her own voice. Listeners who love layered harmonies and unhurried folk, and who are curious about meditative music without needing it to be strictly spiritual, will also feel welcome. If you want propulsion or spectacle, look elsewhere. If you want to be met gently, this is for you.

How to Listen

Give Slánú an evening, preferably a quiet one with the lights low. Headphones suit it well, since the layered vocals are the kind of detail that reward closeness. Listen front to back in order, so the elemental thread of water, wind and earth can unfold, and resist the urge to skip. If you keep a practice of meditation, journaling or simple stillness, let the album sit alongside it as a companion rather than background noise. Then, on a second listen, return to Dreaming and only you know where peace is on their own.

You can find the album on Spotify, and Ajeet's website, ajeetmusic.com, lists each release with links to listen.
