Viento by Ajeet: A Listening Guide

Viento is a single: one track, released on October 2, 2025. That makes this guide a close look at one piece of music rather than a tour through an album. It is also a good way into Ajeet's recent work.

Where It Sits in Ajeet's Arc

Ajeet's recordings begin with mantra. Sacred Waters (2013) holds music for Kundalini Yoga meditations, and At The Temple Door (2014) weaves songs and mantras with harmonies from Snatam Kaur. From there the catalogue widens: Darshan (2015), recorded in Bali; Haseya (2016); Shuniya and Indigo Sea (2018); the LUNAR EP (2020), whose four songs follow the phases of the moon; the live Voices Like Rain; and Let It Breathe (2022). Since 2020 she has lived in Ireland, working from her home studio, and that return to the folk traditions of her background runs through the later work.

Viento comes late in this arc. The title is Spanish for "wind," and the song is also listed among the tracks on Slánú, the album Ajeet released in October 2026. So the single arrived first, as an early look at a larger collection. If you are meeting her through Viento, you are hearing her at a mature point, long after the mantra-built beginnings.

Sonic Character

The single credits Ajeet alone, and its lyric is short: a call for the wind to come into the heart and to cleanse and heal it. Her music moves from traditional Irish folk toward mystical, meditative soundscapes, and many of her songs carry layers of folklore, dream images and myth. Her band draws musicians from Spain, Ireland and the United States, and the Spanish title of this song fits that mix.

Her live recordings show the range of her palette: layered harmonies, acoustic and electric guitars, hand percussion and Celtic harp. When you press play, listen for which of those elements come forward and which hold back. Listen also for pacing. Her songs tend to invite stillness rather than push forward, so give the track room before deciding what it is.

The Track Worth Naming

"Viento" is the only track on the release, and the guide centers on it. A title like this suggests movement, air and breath, and Ajeet's other titles, such as Let It Breathe, show she returns to those images. Notice how the song handles that image. Does it move like a gust or settle like a breeze? Does the voice ride above the instruments or sit inside them? A single track makes a good test of her approach, because there is nothing around it to soften or explain it.

If Viento draws you in, the Slánú track list offers natural next steps. It includes Para la Tierra, Para Sanar, Heartbeat, Soften and From The Water. They sit beside Viento on that album, and their titles point toward earth, healing and softness.

Place in Its Tradition

Ajeet's work belongs to the broad world of devotional and world music. Her early albums grew from mantra, the Kundalini Yoga meditation setting and the company of Snatam Kaur, a prominent mantra singer. Her later work leans on Irish folk, story and myth. Viento sits where those two streams meet: a devotional sensibility, meaning music made for attention and inner quiet, carried by folk song and a meditative sound.

It is better heard as a contemporary song in that spirit than as a strict kirtan or chant recording. Ajeet also leads retreats and shares songs, stories and music in them, so her recordings often read as extensions of a practice of gathering and listening.

Who It Lands Hardest For

This single will probably speak most to listeners who already find comfort in meditative or folk-rooted music. It suits someone who likes Irish traditional sounds and wants something more spacious, and it suits someone who has come to devotional music through yoga or meditation and wants a song rather than a chant. It is also well matched to a transitional moment: a season of change, a morning after a hard stretch, or any time you want to clear space rather than fill it.

If you prefer high-energy or heavily percussive music, this may feel too quiet on first listen. Give it a second pass before deciding.

How to Listen Closely

Listen alone, in the evening, with headphones. Choose a time when you can stay with the song from start to finish without interruption. A single track rewards repetition, so plan to play it at least twice.

  • First listen: Sit still and don't analyze. Let the song set its own pace.
  • Second listen: Follow one strand at a time, such as the voice, then the lower instruments, then the space between phrases.
  • Optional third listen: Treat it as a ritual. Light a candle, open a window if the weather allows, and let the title do its work. Notice what the word "wind" brings up, and whether the music agrees with you.

Afterward, consider moving on to the rest of Slánú, or back to Let It Breathe, to hear how this track fits among Ajeet's other work.
