Vanessa Bennett

Vanessa Bennett is a licensed depth psychotherapist, author and facilitator based in Los Angeles. Her work is rooted in depth psychology, archetypal exploration and embodied healing. She helps people break cycles of self-abandonment, move through codependency recovery, and reconnect with who they are beneath their conditioning. She describes her approach as no-nonsense, grounded in lived experience, and built on the belief that healing is about remembering who you were before the world told you to be small.

Before becoming a therapist, she spent over a decade in corporate New York, where she felt disconnected, anxious and numb. She turned to therapy, yoga and meditation in search of relief, and that journey became a calling. She trained in somatic therapy, yoga, mindfulness and nutrition, and earned a Master's in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.

Today she leads immersive healing retreats and workshops, and designs custom curriculum-based programs for nonprofits and corporations. She also founded the Inner Compass Academy, where she trains and supervises coaches and therapists to bring depth and embodiment into their work. She hosts a podcast and writes a Substack, Going Deeper. Her books include It's Not Me It's You, co-written with her partner, and The Motherhood Myth, which looks at how patriarchy, capitalism and generational trauma have shaped our stories about parenting, partnership and identity.

Her mission across writing, teaching and group facilitation is to help people unlearn the stories and survival strategies that no longer serve them, and remember the Self beneath the conditioning.
