Professional Triathlete (Retired)
Jan Frodeno is a retired German triathlon icon who bridged the Olympic and Ironman worlds like no athlete before him. The 2008 Olympic champion went on to dominate Ironman racing with three World Championship titles (2015, 2016, 2019), becoming the first athlete to hold both Olympic gold and the Ironman world title.
Known as "Frodo" to his legions of fans, Frodeno set the Ironman world record of 7:27:53 at Challenge Roth in 2021 and maintained his competitive edge well into his late thirties. His combination of swim speed, cycling power, and marathon running ability represented the perfect triathlete template. Off the course, his charitable "Tri@Home" indoor triathlon during COVID-19 raised over 200,000 euros for relief efforts.
